Socialism is now apparently brought to you by the US State Department.
In their recent article “DSA/Jacobin/Haymarket-sponsored ‘Socialism’ conference features US gov-funded regime-change activists,” Max Blumenthal and Ben Norton explains exactly how “socialism is apparently brought to you by the US State Department and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), “a group founded out of Ronald Reagan’s CIA in the 1980s to grease the wheels of right-wing regime-change efforts and promote “free markets” across the planet.” (Read the article by following the link below.)
The Local Angle
Fully in sync with this burgeoning co-opted form of US government funded, imperialist “socialism,” and long known for their turn around in the direction shilling for US military support for US “regime change” imperialism and exceptionalism are Twin Cities locals Andy Berman and Terry Burke. No surprise then that Burke produced a veritable hit list of prominent antiwar, anti-US militarism writers and news sites, including Blumenthal, in her Russia-demonizing screed “Russiagate, Syria and the Left” Her hit list of journalists also included Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Katrina Vanden Heuvel, Norman Solomon, Chris Hedges, Stephen Cohen, Aaron Mate, Paul Street in Counterpunch, and Katie Halper from Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR).
In accusing all of these and other journalists of disinformation and dividing the Left, she admits trusting former FBI Director Mueller, despite his lengthy sordid track record over the award-winning journalists. Aaron Mate, whose research and interviews have repeatedly called into question the existence of any actual evidence for the Democrats’ and mainstream media’s claims of Russian meddling and who just published a factually detailed autopsy of Mueller’s Report as “Undercutting Its Own Core Russia-Meddling Claims” had no trouble, however, rightfully attributing blame for the terrible ongoing disinformation squarely on pro-Syria proxy war, pro-New Cold War, imperialism proponents like Burke and her ilk, calling her attacks an “incoherent smear piece that actually shows how we’ve been divided by a substantial disinformation effort originating w/ pro-New Cold War, pro-Syria proxy war Western pundits…” —Coleen Rowley
“It’s hard to see how anyone who’s done even a limited investigation of war on syria can believe the Burkian nonsense… “ A comment on Aaron Mate’s Twitter page (see below).
The 2019 Socialism Conference, sponsored by American leftist juggernauts the DSA, Jacobin magazine, and ISO’s Haymarket Books, features regime-change activists from multiple US government-funded NGOs.
By Ben Norton and Max Blumenthal The Grayzone July 6, 2019
Socialism is now apparently brought to you by the US State Department.
From July 4 to 7, thousands of left-wing activists from across the United States are gathering in Chicago for the 2019 Socialism Conference.
At this event, some of the most powerful institutions on the American socialist — but avowedly anti-communist — left have brought together a motley crew of regime-change activists to demonize Official Enemies of Washington.
***
The 2019 Socialism Conference, like its annual predecessors, combines calls for radical economic democratic transformation and progressive social progress with the demonization of independent foreign governments that are targeted by the US government for regime change, such as Nicaragua, Cuba, Syria, Iran, China, and Russia.

1. Have you actually read the article? 2. Do you consider the author to be a “pro-New Cold War, pro-Syria proxy war Western pundit”? 3. Clearly you see me as one. Your evidence?
On top of the fact that you’ve long whitewashed the Syria proxy war & smeared its critics, you’ve just promoted a moronic article that does the same & adopts the Russiagate narrative whole-cloth.
On top of that, you’ve also just claimed that this sinister leftism “[originates] with Russian and Syrian state media.” Is that a joke? Re: the author, I haven’t heard of them but their expressed views here are certainly “pro-New Cold War, pro-Syria proxy war.”
