Rise Up Times | Media for Justice and Peace, Learn More

For over ten years Rise Up Times has spoken, bringing you articles of substance about issues of substance.

Publishing began in earnest on RiseUpTimes.org in 2010, followed by Facebook and then other social media a year later in 2011. Rise Up Times covers issues of the day and shares ideas for the future from activists who know the issues they write about, providing insights and knowledge that provide a basis for informed actions, whether on the streets or signing petitions, writing letters the editor, or otherwise engaging in the nonviolent actions it takes to build a movement.

Rise Up Times publishes thoughtful analyses of those issues that affect our lives daily and serve as a basis for action. A gift of $25 will make it possible to continue to bring you active writings of stories, actions, events, and analysis.

Rise Up Times informs and educates, often posting longer, more philosophical pieces with discussion of ideas and issues via articles and videos, Zooms, webinars, and podcasts. Rise Up Times draws items to post from the many amazing non-mainstream news outlets online that publish work by activists who speak their thoughts and ideas, sometimes through action on the streets, sometimes as academic activists who share their understanding and knowledge or as journalists who discuss and analyze current significant and sometimes momentous events. All speak with conviction.

  2. It must be convenient for the fossil fuel industry to have such a large portion of mainstream society simply too worried about and exhausted with feeding, housing and protecting against COVID-19 their families on a substandard income to criticize Big Fossil Fool for the great damage it’s been doing to our planet’s natural environment and therefore our wellbeing, particularly when that damage is not immediately observable.

About two years ago, our supposedly environmentally concerned Canadian (now minority) Liberal government, besides pushing for the tripling of diluted bitumen flow, gave the dirty-energy fossil fuel sector 12-fold the subsidization they allocated to clean renewable energy technology innovations.

Mass addiction to fossil-fuel-powered single occupant vehicles surely helps keep the average addict’s mouth shut about the planet’s greatest and still very profitable polluter, lest they feel like and/or be publicly deemed hypocrites.
