I’m Dreaming of a Green Christmas
I’m dreaming of a green Christmas.
One where renewables restore the earth.
Where the trees are thriving and animals are surviving
And water is plentiful and pure.
I’m dreaming of a green Christmas
Where the earth’s bounty is plentiful and shared by all.
Where there is no starvation or human deprivation
And war is banned once and for all.
I’m dreaming of a green Christmas
With every climate justice hope I give.
May your gift be the earth, and may you honor its worth.
And may we together give earth rebirth.

Author Jo Schubert is chair of the WAMM End Military Madness Against the Earth Committee (EMMAE) and half of the duo The String Beans who created the Pipeline Blues, sung Mondays at the Minnesota Governor’s mansion (Shut Down Line 3). If you would like to sing Green Christmas, the tune is White Christmas. In Minnesota we definitely have a white Christmas this year with lots of snow and also cold—more like January than December. I am sure that won’t stop Santa though. He is used to such weather.
