The Black Alliance for Peace organized this cutting edge webinar, “Colonialism, Compradors and the Militarized Crisis of Capitalism in Africa,” to kick off the 2022 International Month of Action Against AFRICOM.

Editor’s Note: Full of information about AFRICOM and Africa, one of the most important accomplishments of this panel is to show the connections, for example, between the slave trade from the 1600s into the 1800s and use of force to control slaves (whether police or military personnel) and in the present day continued colonialization of not only Africa, but in the U.S. Another key point is the influence of NGOs and Nonprofits in Africa, and in this country as well, not as agents of change but as gatekeepers preventing change that includes the refusal to challenge militarism. Kenya and Somalia are discussed in depth as examples of the continuation of colonization and the commodidization of the people of Africa (slave labor) and theft and plunder of African resources while the majority of the people live in grinding poverty. The propaganda war by the U.S., France, and Britain is discussed as well. A month of action proposed to Shut Down AFRICOM is outlined.
