Drones Week of Action: 6th – 13th October 2012
Posted on July 5, 2012
The Drones Campaign Network in the UK is organising a week of action to protest the growing use of armed drones from 6th – 13th October. The week coincides with the International Keep Space for Peace Week which focuses on the militarization of space.
Over the past year Libya has been added to the list of countries subjected to drone strikes by US and British forces, joining Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. Gaza, too it hardly needs to be said, has regularly faced drone strikes by Israeli forces. Unfortunately, the list of countries facing these kind of remote attacks is only likely to grow as US and UK are working on doubling the number of armed drones in their arsenals.
Protests against drone strikes are growing in Pakistan and Yemen and we need to add our voices to this call to Ground the Drones
Please think about organising something about the growing use of drones in your local area – here are some ideas:

Please think about organising something about the growing use of drones in your local area – here are some ideas:
- Organise a street stall to raise awareness and collect signatures against growing use of drones
- Join the week -long drone protest walk taking place during the week
- Hold a public meeting – we can provide speakers but contact us as soon as possible
- Organise a protest vigil against drones strikes – either in your high street or at a venue connected with drone industry in your area (we can help you find somewhere if you contact us)
- Sign & promote the national petition being launched in the week
- Write to your local MP about the issue and encourage others to do so
Members of the network will also be organising protests at various sites connected to the drone wars throughout the UK. Details will be announced nearer the time.
