The public defunding of universities, along with their seizure by corporations and the uber rich, is part of the slow-motion corporate coup d’état. The goal is to enforce conformity and obedience, to train young people to fill their slots in the corporate machine and leave unquestioned the status quo. The accumulation of vast wealth, no matter how nefarious, is prized as the highest good.
The U.S. media has the lowest credibility — 26 percent — among 46 nations, according to a 2022 report from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. And with good reason.

All these issues matter: gun control, gay and trans rights, women’s rights (above all to control our own bodies), racism, homelessness, poverty, labor/union rights, police brutality, hunger, health care…the list is long. Yet if we do not have a livable planet all these struggles will be moot.

Six corporations control what's often referred to as the Legacy Media but there are still just a handful of corporations that control digital media as well, so we're looking at about maybe 10 or so corporations that control all of the media that people use, I think that's a really important factor when we talk about this because increasingly people of all age groups say they get their "news" from these digital outlets... Governance exists. But it is not seen. It is certainly not democratic. It is done by the armies of lobbyists and corporate executives, from the fossil fuel industry, the arms industry, the pharmaceutical industry and Wall Street. Governance happens in secret.

The once unthinkable is now thinkable, such as formally annexing large sections of the West Bank, including “Area C” where up to 300,000 Palestinians live.
Why does any legislator believe railroad workers should be forced to use what few vacation days they may have if they fall sick and request permission to be absent days in advance, as if illnesses are scheduled events? Congress members and their staff do not work under these conditions.
