ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kirk’s award-winning cartoons have appeared in the nation’s most trusted news sources: The New York Times, Washington Post, and The Onion. Less trusted news sources such as USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, and Newsweek have also featured his work, in addition to hundreds of even more unreliable publications spanning the globe.
His cartoons have prompted stockholder protest of corporate policy, have been debated on talk radio and in newspaper columns, orchestrated into classroom lessons and Congressional presentations, reprinted in hundreds of books, appeared on The CBS Evening News andABC’s Nightline, and been chosen for national exhibitions, at the Warhol Museum and other venues. He has been interviewed and profiled by local and national radio and TV stations and magazines, proving how low our media has to stoop to fill a 24/7 news cycle.
As the staff cartoonist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Kirk comforted the afflicted and afflicted the comfortable from 1995 to 2003. He then hopped across the river and drew regularly for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He currently offers his services as a fully-licensed Independent Visual Communication Consultant and Graphics Oracle.
