Mr. Fish | A Nonpolitical Moment of Humanity at Dilworth Park in Philadelphia

Be sure to click the link below to the rest of Mr. Fish’s drawings done on-site in Philadelphia, including this video. Here the people speak. Contrast this march (“this is what democracy looks like”) with the inside of the convention where the “kings and queens” speak from their podium high above the rest of the convention attendees.

Mr. Fish  Truthdig  July 27, 2016

Here is an illustration that I did on Wednesday of children playing in the fountains at Dilworth Park at City Hall.

Not included in the rendering are the Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton supporters crisscrossing nearby, nor are the convention balloons and placards megaphoning their tin whistle glee for democracy™ everywhere you look, nor is the small band of religious zealots standing not 10-feet away with signs and a bullhorn raging against homosexuals and Muslims while tourists take pictures with their cellphones.

I wanted to pause and remind myself precisely what is poetic and nonpolitical about who we are as people as compared to what we pretend to be as partisans.
