Creating new solutions to human problems…
How did this “mediocre student,” who says he’s “not the smartest guy you’ve ever met, or the hardest working,” rise to be one of the richest men in the world?
Hanauer says that what sets him apart is his “tolerance for risk and an intuition about what will happen in the future. Seeing where things are headed is the essence of entrepreneurship.”
He was one of the first investors in Amazon because his intuition told him that the Internet would mean the death of the retail industry as we knew it in the 90s, before we ran our entire lives online.
While Hanauer might have been part of the 99 percent back then, he was 100 percent right about the way the economy would shift.
So what does he predict for the future?
Pitchforks.

Nick Hanauer is a rich guy, an unrepentant capitalist — and he has something to say to his fellow plutocrats: Wake up! Growing inequality is about to push our societies into conditions resembling pre-revolutionary France. Hear his argument about why a dramatic increase in minimum wage could grow the middle class, deliver economic prosperity … and prevent a revolution.

Via Business Insider: “As the war over income inequality wages on, super-rich Seattle entrepreneur Nick Hanauer has been raising the hackles of his fellow 1-percenters, espousing the contrarian argument that rich people don’t actually create jobs. The position is controversial — so much so that TED is refusing to post a talk that Hanauer gave on the subject. National Journal reports today that TED officials decided not to put Hanauer’s March 1 speech up online after deeming his remarks “too politically controversial” for the site…”.

Brilliant, logical, irrefutable talk on raising the minimum wage by Mr. Hanauer.
