Please contact John Beard at the Canadian Foreign Ministry at 800-267-8376 and ask that he facilitate the evacuation of Mahdi Darious Nazemoroaya, a Canadian citizen, who is trapped in the Corinthian Hotel in Tripoli, Libya. (Doesn’t like leaving as a witness but indy journalists are under death threat.)

Post requested by Mary Beaudoin, WAMM Newsletter Editor.

A video report from Thierry Meyssan is posted on the WAMM Today blog. Of course the other journalists aren’t Canadian but if he (Madhi) can be evacuated, then they probably could, too, in the same way.

Thierry Meyssan, founder of the Voltaire Network of independent journalists, other independent journalists and non-NATO Chinese, Venezuelan, Iranian journalists were evacuated by the Red Cross from one hotel in Tripoli, but are trapped in another. Their lives have been threatened and they are in danger. These are journalists who, from the ground, had the courage to report truthfully about NATO and Libya.

You will find Mahdi Darious Nazemoroaya reports on Libya and those of Voltaire Network journalists at globalresearch.ca andvoltairenet.org.  A report from Thierry Meyssan is posted on the WAMM Today blog. Of course the other journalists aren’t Canadian but if can be evacuated, then they probably could, too, in the same way. There was a boat to carry them to Malta but they couldn’t leave.

When you reach someone you may be told that they are doing everything they can or that they are doing nothing. The point is to let the Foreign Office know that we know the journalists are there, as well as to put pressure on them to get them evacuated.

I did get through to someone at the Foreign office today–they asked who I was, my relationship to the matter (I said “human rights journalism and Women Against Military Madness”).The person in the office had a very pronounced French accent and it was necessary to speak slowly and repeat (my French pronounciation is weak.) but she got all the information down and told me they would get back to me.  Mary
