“This week, people who encouraged and even attended the insurrection are now taking their places as leaders in the new House majority — people like Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who said insurrectionists would have won on January 6th if she had been involved, or Representative Matt Gaetz, who encouraged voters to arm themselves at the polls.” -Michael Fanone UPDATE by Rise Up Times: On the 15th attempt Kevin McCarthy was elected Speaker of the House but not until after serious concessions were made to extreme right factions that are of concern for democracy. Trump, in the meantime, by accusing the Democrats of trying to “overthrow Democracy,” is using the “blame the enemy” fascist (and Machiavellian) trick: the NAZI propaganda of the time blamed the Jews for the wars that Hitler & Co. started. It is the neoliberals as the ruling elite who are destroying Democracy, and there are neoliberals in both Repub and Dem camps, but more predominant and flagrant in Trump and Trump’s GOP followers on the extreme right. NOTE: please do not confuse neoliberalism and liberalism: they are quite different things and oppositional. See Henry Giroux’s article below for more information on this topic.
It was a turbulent year of nuclear brinkmanship, attacks on free speech, and continued global healthcare and economic crisis. Questions of democracy abounded. Scheer covered these topics every week to keep listeners informed on the most critical developments and narratives in the world.
On the Left, there’s been a temptation to dismiss the revelations about Twitter’s internal censorship system that have emerged from the so-called Twitter Files project. But that would be a mistake: the news is important and the details are alarming.
As the history of nuclear fusion since the 1950s shows, this complicated technology is not going to produce cheap and reliable electricity to light bulbs or power computers anytime in the foreseeable future.
*,,,the mere possibility that one day the powers and the focus of those U.S Security State agencies would be turned inward, primarily targeting not our foreign enemies but the American people themselves.”
Violence has become apocalyptic and spectacularized. A theater of cruelty and violence now functions to consolidate power, shatter the bonds of solidarity, and create a culture of white supremacy and Christian extremism.
Christmas and the holidays are traditionally a time invoke worldwide peace. This song, by Pat Humphries and Sandy Opatow of Emma’s Revolution, is a universal wish for many people, many religions, as sung by people from around the world.
DMITRY PESKOV: [translated] The supply of weapons continues, and the range of supplied weapons is expanding. All of this, of course, leads to an aggravation of the conflict. This does not bode well for Ukraine.
The Boys Who Said No: Draft Resistance and the Vietnam War is an overdue and definitive account of the principled and powerful nonviolent resistance to America’s most problematic war. These young men risked years in prison to challenge a war of tragic human proportions.Their leadership, personal sacrifices, and example had a direct effect on ending the war, and are an important example for today’s movements for social justice and peace.

NEW GLOBAL POWER FORMATIONS
NEW MODES OF POLITICS
“Power is global and politics is local. That must change. We need a new language for understanding new global power formations as well as new international modes of politics to fight them.
Social movements must move outside of national boundaries and join with others across the globe to fight the savagery of neoliberal global politics and central to such a task is the work of intellectuals, artists, cultural workers, and others who can fashion new tools and social movements in the fight against the current anti-democratic threats being imposed all over the globe.”

This we know The Earth does not belong to us we belong to the Earth.
We do not weave the web of life we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web we do to ourselves.
ABOLISH NUCLEAR WEAPONS
The ‘apocalyptic’ chess game between the superpowers, that is, between those that move on the highest plane of our civilization, is being played according to the rule ‘if either “wins” it is the end of both’; it is a game that bears no resemblance to whatever war games preceded it. Its ‘rational’ goal is deterrence, not victory, and the arms race, no longer a preparation for war, can now be justified only on the grounds that more and more deterrence is the best guarantee of peace. To the question how shall we ever be able to extricate ourselves from the obvious insanity of this positionthere is no answer.”
“Resistance is no longer an option, it is now a matter of life or death. The lights are going out on democracy across the globe and the time to wake up from this nightmare is now.”
