Rowley was participating in a rally at Lake and Hiawatha in Minneapolis on August 8, 2015, on the one-year anniversary of the current Iraq bombing campaign and a protest against the continued bombing of Iraq and Syria.
The event was sponsored by the Minnesota Peace Action Coalition (MPAC), including AFSCME Local 3800, Anti-War Committee, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Mayday Books, Women Against Military Madness, and a number of other peace and justice organizations.
