November 20, 2013 | The Department of Defense (DoD) estimates a shocking 26,000 instances of rape, sexual assault and unwanted sexual contact occurred in our military – last year alone. That’s an average of 71 cases every day.
In a recent Pentagon survey, roughly one in five military women said they were victims of unwanted sexual contact – but the vast majority of cases went unreported.
Victims have spoken out time and again for changing the system that wronged them. Congress must act immediately.
