Evergreen Digest: We Can Stop This Attack On Syria!

We have an opportunity to stop this madness before more innocent people are killed, this time by our hands.Veterans for Peace (VFP) Chapter 27 (Twin Cities, MN) <Veterans for Peace Chapter 27 <vfpchapter27@gmail.com>What we can do:

  1. Sign the RootsAction petition calling for no attack on Syria <http://act.rootsaction.org/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=8463>.
  2. Call the President and your legislators and tell them not to endorse the killing of more innocent civilians in Syria. A military attack will not help the situation it will only make it worse. The world is against this action, the U.S. people are against this action, only the war-hawks who believe the answer to all problems is to kill more people are in favor of a military attack. Ask them, “Why do we need to kill people to teach people it’s wrong to kill civilians?”
  3. Email your legislators every day, every hour, fill up their email boxes with our anger and frustration at their willingness to bring us into yet another war.
  4. Cut your favorite message from all the various antiwar sources, personalize it, change the “we” into “I” and paste it into their email box. Cut-Paste and Repeat. Host an email party and let them know we won’t be silenced!
  5. If you’re not Mad As Hell you must not be paying attention.

In Minnesota both Franken and Klobuchar seem to be supporting a military attack on the Syrian people. Let them know how you feel about this!

Amy Klobuchar’s Email Site

Representatives Betty McCollum (Statement Here) and Rick Nolan (Statement Here) have taken stands against military action. We should thank them for their courage and intelligence.

Keith Ellison has surprisingly stated his support for a military action (See Article Here). Contact him and tell him he’s wrong. Killing more people is not the answer.

Call the White House at 202-456-1111 or the Switchboard at 202-456-1414

Call your elected Representatives and Senators in their State or District offices (they are on recess) – Demand NO military intervention in Syria. To find their contact information: Click Here

The vote in Congress is going to be close every vote matters, we can make a difference!

Forward this to anyone that wants to prevent more needless killing!

  1. News reports have stated that the al-qaida terrorists are fighting for/among the Syrian rebels.

Question: Why isn’t providing any U.S., military action that would only aid and support the Syrian rebels, treason?

The United States government, in defining al-qaida terrorists “enemy combatants” apparently did so, in order to treat them as war enemies…not merely “international criminals.”

Wthin that now legal definition, Al-gaida is defined a war enemy, yet, the President is asking for a legal right to provide millions of dollars worth of military support by activating a military strike that only provides aid and comfort to our legally defined war enemies!!

How can this military action, not be treason?

    USC › Title 18 › Part I › Chapter 115 › § 2381

    18 USC § 2381 – Treason

Current through Pub. L. 113-31. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)

“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”
