The hope for ‘2 Million Friends’ is simple, that in place of the 2 million Afghan victims of war over the past 4 decades, the Afghan Peace Volunteers wish to find 2 million friends. And, so as not to lose any more human lives, they will be wishing for a multilateral ceasefire to end the war in Afghanistan. Dr Sima Samar, Chairperson of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, and Nobel Laureate Mairead Maguire, will be attending the ‘2 Million Friends’ event on 10 December 2012, the International Day of Human Rights.
