An oft quoted statement by Pastor Niemoller in Germany last century:They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
The peace activists targeted by the FBI met with Amy Klouchar’s staff on Tuesday, October 19, the day some were supposed to appear at the Federal Grand Jury in Chicago. Link: http://theuptake.org/2010/10/19/fbi-raid-victims-find-sympathetic-ears-at-klobuchar-office/
As Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer told Amy’s staff, "What’s at stake here is very troubling." Sadly this is a repeat of abuse of power by the FBI. After Wounded Knee they arrested 500 mostly Indians. Only one, a non-Indian was convicted. They rounded up 800 peace activists at the RNC, this week the last 4 cases of the RNC 8 were resolved with guilty misdemeanors. The FBI was recently criticized by the Dept. Of Justice Inspector General for this kind of fishing expeditions against peace activists.
These peace loving people have lost their personal property: computers, phones, pictures, books etc. all for a scary FBI fishing expedition.
